Here’s a look at my Focus photobook.
It’s a 10×10 photobook ordered from American Color Imaging. The “sweet thing” title is from a kit called Little Sprout by One Little Bird (available at Oscraps). These photos are from Ashleigh’s photoshoot (taken by my friend Melanie) when she turned one.
One thing I really love about the books from ACI is that they have an option to add UV coating to the pages. It adds a slick glossy finish to the page. It makes my pages feel a little thicker and look more like a photograph.

Focus follows my simple/clean approach to album design. I used this album to create a photobook showing off all the pictures taken during Ashleigh’s photoshoot at 1 year. I didn’t add any extra papers, just the photos and a tiny bit of journaling.

The title reads “you fill our hearts with love and bring meaning to our lives”. I added bits of journaling that captured the feelings we had back then, being new parents. I ordered my photobook through American Color Imaging and am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival.

Posted by Molly | 4 commentsI created a new set of linen papers and some of my creative team gals commented about how great the papers were for photo blending. I thought I’d put together a quick tutorial to show you how quick and easy it is to add a little photo blending to your layouts.
1. Open your photo + paper (paper shown is from my new paper pack Neutral Linens – on sale for 20% thru tuesday 8/23/11)
2. Drag your image onto a new layer above the paper & align to your liking (works best if you cover the paper with your photo)
3. Keep working on your photo layer and set the blending mode. Play around with the different blending modes and opacity levels until you find what works best. Different modes can provide a completely different mood to your layout. For this tutorial, I chose Linear Burn at 69% opacity.
4. I dressed up my layout I added a page border from In the Loop by One Little Bird (available at Oscraps).
5. I added a new layer above the border and filled it with white, then clipped it to the border.
6. Then I added some text. I chose the song lyrics from Little Miss Magic by Jimmy Buffett. I chose this song because I just love Jimmy Buffett and it’s always reminded me of Ashleigh, ever since she was a baby. The image below is a little closer view, you can see the texture through the image.
7. Here’s my completed layout. I think I may print and frame this one.

I’ve got a new product in my oscraps shop today. Little Details includes 7 journaling stamps/overlays for sharing the little details of your story including who, what, when and where. These are black .png files which are very easy to recolor.
LITTLE DETAILS MINI ALBUM
I made a little mini album over the weekend using the 4×6 overlay from Little Details. I decided to put the album together with the story on one side and a 4×6 photo on the other.
I made a simple title page (and matching insert for the kolo album window). I made a coordinating end page that included the little details about who made the book and when.

For the inner pages, I started by browsing through my lightroom photo library and picking out some random photos whose stories had not been told yet. Then I jotted down some other stories that I knew I wanted to include in the album, and that fit the little details theme. For some events I had the perfect photo and for others I didn’t have a photo from the actual event but found another one that worked.
I included a story about my first truck and how I couldn’t believe I was never pulled over on reasonable suspicion because of all the stickers.
I included the story about bringing my daughter to work with me for the first five months of her life. I wrote about all the little details of when she would sleep, where she would sleep, how she’d sit on my desk in her bouncy seat and swing next to me in her portable swing.
I wrote about the time my husband killed a 6 foot rattlesnake with 13 rattles using only a shovel. I didn’t have a photo of the rattlesnake or one from that event but I found another photo of him at the cabin holding a small garden snake (which is the same place we found the rattlesnake).
I wrote about my relationship with my mom and about how becoming a mom myself really changed my whole perspective.
It only took me a couple hours to put the album together. I’m really loving having this little collection of stories and details.

She wanted to create template sets that incorporated a signature illustration specifically for instagram photos. What a fun idea! I am so happy to introduce our first set: hello sunshine

I spent last saturday afternoon kicking back at my mother in laws watching Ashleigh and her cousins play outside. It was a perfect opportunity to shoot some instagram photos for this kit. I enjoy days like that where the kids are runnin’ around playing (getting nice and rested for an early bed time) while I sit and chill with the in-laws.
